Back to Zumba

I was 4 minutes shy of completing the Beto's Zumba dance exercise my husband downloaded for me. I had to stop because my left knee was starting to feel a bit painful.

I did Zumba sometime back but went back to jogging and walking as my mode of exercise. I just incorporated Zumba again back in my regimen so I don't get bored doing the same exercise over and over again.

The movements really make me jiggle my body and I am working my core muscles as well with the arms and legs movement. I like this dance exercise a lot. It's not so hard to follow as long as you know the basic steps. Zumba also incorporates other latin dance movements like merengue and salsa and the one I am following has hip-hop added as well. So you can imagine how tiring it is to complete the half and hour routine. But I think it's really worth it.


  1. Hi! I'm a Zumba instructor. I started taking Zumba in 2008. I lost about 30 pounds in the first year. I just wanted to share with you that you may need to invest in a dance sneaker if you want to Zumba. It is probably the reason you are experiencing knee pain. Regular sneakers are meant for a forward and backward motion, but aren't meant to pivot or move laterally. Here is a link to give you an idea of what you are looking for.   2. I've always wanted to try Zumba, but I haven't mustered enough willpower to start. One day, I know I'll be able to pull myself out of this chair and workout...

  3. Hi Vidette! Thanks for your comment. Yes, you're right. I might consider changing my rubber shoes because they are not meant for dancing. Thanks for the tip!

    Sis Pepper - like you, it took me a while to really have a go for it but once you try, you will be hooked. Everything (as in literally...hehehehe) just moves so you're really exercising all your muscles. Try it and let me know how it goes.
